Supported by Oxford University and with the mission of ”research and data to make progress against the world’s largest problems”, this database has a wide variety of statistics, graphs and diagrams on social, political & economic issues. It doesn’t catch every topic but it’s worth looking at when researching in these areas. Some areas it has comprehensive and useful data and statistics on include:
- Climate change
- Poverty
- Sanitation & water infrastructure
- International Development
Pros:
- Graphs and diagrams can clearly explain specific issues
- Variety of reputable sources
- Generally up to date and adds new information regularly
- Can search for information on specific countries, or can browse by topic eg. Education and Knowledge, Health, Violence & War
- Free, reliable and easy to use
Cons/ issues to take into consideration:
- Sometimes you look for a topic you think would logically be there and it isn’t covered at all- so can be a bit hit and miss.
